Ed3 and Ashland University have announced a new partnership to deliver AI literacy and professional development courses built specifically for K-12 educators across Ohio.
Too often, AI professional development for teachers is focused on the tools - ChatGPT, Claude, or MagicSchool - helping teachers do what they're already doing, just faster. That approach amplifies the status quo. It doesn't answer the harder, more important question: when, if, and how should AI be integrated into classroom practice in ways that actually improve learning outcomes?
This partnership anchors AI professional learning in research-backed pedagogies and proven teaching practices. Through Ashland University's Professional Learning Services, educators will have access to a suite of graduate-credit and continuing education courses developed by Ed3 - offering a structured, values-aligned path for navigating AI in the classroom, aligned with Ohio's AI in Education Coalition Strategy and model policy guidance.
"We are excited to partner with Ed3 to deliver professional learning to Ohio educators that will help them understand how to integrate AI and emerging technologies into their pedagogy. This is much needed — because most of the time, the approach to AI literacy has been very tool-based, focused on things like helping students edit their writing. The shift to a pedagogy-first mindset is what's most critical right now."— Dr. James Powell, Executive Director of Professional Learning Services, Ashland University
The program draws on Ashland University's extensive network of district and Education Service Center (ESC) relationships across Ohio, paired with Ed3's pedagogy-first AI professional learning model - which has already supported more than 20,000 educator enrollments across 48 states.
"Teachers need AI professional development that starts with their students and their classrooms — not with the technology. This partnership with Ashland University means we can provide Ohio educators the tools and confidence to lead with purpose in an AI-integrated world."— Vriti Saraf, Founder & CEO, Ed3
Together, the two organizations aim to reach thousands of Ohio educators, including districts that haven't yet had access to quality AI professional learning.
Courses are available for graduate credit and continuing education units (CEUs), with stackable pathways that let educators build credentials over time.
